SIGMA Vienna Insurance Group in Albania organized a large-scale volunteer activity as part of the global “Social Active Day” initiative, engaging around 50 employees in a dedicated effort to protect and maintain the environment in the Prespa Lake area. Under the motto “We Care. We Act. We Protect.”, participants contributed directly to the clean-up and preservation of one of the country’s most important natural ecosystems.
Lake Prespa represents an area of exceptional ecological and biodiversity value, forming part of a transboundary park shared by Albania, North Macedonia, and Greece. It is home to over 1,500 species, including rare and endangered ones such as the Dalmatian pelican (Pelecanus crispus), making it a critical habitat for biodiversity conservation in the region. The sensitivity of this ecosystem to pollution and human impact underscores the importance of continuous care and protection.
This activity reflects SIGMA VIG’s strong commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) principles, embedding sustainability and social responsibility at the core of its organizational culture. Through concrete actions and active community involvement, the company aims not only to contribute to environmental protection, but also to raise awareness about the importance of preserving natural ecosystems for future generations.
For SIGMA VIG, corporate responsibility goes beyond providing insurance products and services. It encompasses a holistic approach to sustainable development, support for local communities, and the promotion of a corporate culture that encourages active engagement in socially and environmentally impactful initiatives.
Through programs such as “Social Active Day,” SIGMA VIG continues to demonstrate that responsible business is built on strong values, collaboration, and tangible contributions toward a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for all.
