Vienna Insurance Group Reports Strong Financial Results for 2025
Vienna Insurance Group (VIG), the largest insurance group in Austria and active in Albania through Sigma Interalbanian, has announced excellent financial results for the first half of 2025, reinforcing its strong position in Central and Eastern Europe.

Significant Growth in Gross Written Premiums Across All Segments
VIG generated approximately €8.57 billion in gross written premiums in 2025, reflecting a solid 8.7% increase compared to the same period last year. All business lines saw growth, with standout increases in:

Insurance Service Revenue Up by 8.1%
Insurance service revenue rose to €6.4 billion, driven by strong performance in property and casualty insurance across Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, the Baltics, Croatia, Serbia, and Türkiye.
Profit Before Taxes Surges 10.5%
Profit before taxes reached €531.4 million, a 10.5% increase year-over-year. This growth was supported by lower claims due to fewer weather-related events. Poland (+51.3%) and the Czech Republic (+18.4%) contributed significantly to this result. Return on equity (ROE) improved from 16.4% to 18.9%
Improved Net Combined Ratio
The net combined ratio improved to 91.9%, down from 93.3% in 2024, thanks to reduced weather-related claims. Czech Republic (90.3%) and Poland (90.6%) showed the most positive developments.
Contractual Service Margin (CSM) Growth
The CSM, covering long-term life and health insurance, reached €6 billion as of June 30, 2025—an 8.9% increase compared to the previous year.
Strong Solvency Ratio Maintained
VIG’s solvency ratio remained exceptionally high at 278%, including transitional measures, reflecting the Group’s strong capitalization and financial stability.
Investment Portfolio Expansion
As of June 30, 2025, VIG’s total investment portfolio grew to €45.6 billion, up 2.3% from year-end 2024. This growth was mainly driven by increased bond investments and rising fund values.
Full-Year Profit Expected at Upper End of Guidance
Based on its outstanding performance, VIG’s management expects full-year profit before taxes to reach the upper end of its €950 million to €1 billion guidance range for 2025.
