Vienna Insurance Group Records Historic Year 2025 with €16.3 Billion in Premiums and Record Profit
Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) recorded a very successful financial year in 2025, marking strong growth in insurance premiums and a significant increase in profit. According to the preliminary results published on 12 March 2026, the volume of gross written premiums reached €16.3 billion, representing a 7.1% increase compared to the previous year. Insurance service revenue rose to €13.2 billion, up 8.7%, while profit before taxes reached €1.16 billion, or 31.7% more than in 2024.
The net combined ratio improved to 90.1%, decreasing by 3.3 percentage points, reflecting more efficient cost and claims management. At the same time, the Group maintained a very strong capital position, with a solvency ratio of 296%.
Based on these results, the VIG Managing Board has proposed increasing the dividend per share from €1.55 to €1.73, representing a 12% increase.
During 2025, Vienna Insurance Group surpassed the €1 billion profit-before-tax threshold for the first time in its history, reaching €1.161 billion. According to Hartwig Löger, CEO and Chairman of the Managing Board, this outstanding result was driven by strong growth and high profitability levels across all countries in which the Group operates. He emphasized that, based on this performance and the Group’s strong capital position, an increase in the dividend to €1.73 per share has been proposed for shareholders. Löger also added that the planned acquisition of Nürnberger is expected to further contribute to profit growth and strengthen the diversification of the Group’s portfolio.
Premium growth in 2025 was supported by positive performance across all segments and business lines. Among the markets with the strongest growth were Poland with 10.7%, the Extended Central and Eastern Europe region with 9.2%, the Czech Republic with 8.2%, and Austria with 4.6%. Within the Extended Central and Eastern Europe segment, significant contributions came from Croatia with 12.9% growth, Romania with 9.3%, and Hungary with 8.4%.
VIG has also been operating in Albania for many years through Sigma Vienna Insurance Group, which also recorded a very strong performance in 2025, with growth above the insurance market average.
The results of 2025 confirm the Group’s strategy of expanding in the Central and Eastern European markets, consolidating Vienna Insurance Group’s position as one of the largest insurance groups in the region and creating a strong foundation for further growth in 2026.
