Standing Together in Times of Crisis – Supporting Albania’s Most Vulnerable Communities
Emergencies and crises do not affect everyone equally. The elderly, women, children, adolescents, people with disabilities, and those living in remote areas often face the greatest challenges — becoming more vulnerable due to limited access to public services, transportation, and healthcare systems. Recognizing this reality, Sigma Vienna Insurance Group took action to support some of the most affected individuals and families during one of the country’s most difficult periods. While many businesses were forced to close and communities struggled with restricted movement, Sigma VIG saw an opportunity to turn care into action.
Helping Families in Remote Areas
In partnership with the “Fundjavë Ndryshe” Foundation, Sigma VIG identified 500 families living in rural and hard-to-reach areas — particularly in the Municipalities of Gramsh and Kamëz — who had no access to essential goods or transportation. Each family received a one-month emergency package, including essential food items and cleaning supplies. Beyond physical assistance, every delivery carried a message of hope and guidance from Sigma VIG — encouraging families to take care of their health and safety during uncertain times.
A Commitment to Responsibility and Care
“Our lives have changed drastically, and the restrictions have affected everyone. Today, we see more people in need of support — and helping them is both a human and civic duty. We’ve always supported meaningful causes, and during this period, our focus was entirely on assisting our people. Thanks to our main shareholder, the Vienna Insurance Group, and the Gunther Geyer Award, we were able to extend help to many families even during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
— Klaidi Çitozi, CEO of Sigma VIG
Through this initiative, Sigma VIG reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility and to being a company that stands by people — especially in times of crisis.
Because beyond insurance, Sigma VIG believes in protecting lives, dignity, and hope.
