SIGMA VIG Supports Education and Environmental Awareness: A Learning Journey from Bulqiza to the Karavasta Lagoon
Students from the 9-year school “Jashar Kola” in Bulqiza, together with their teachers, took part in an educational excursion themed “Exploring the Karavasta Lagoon”, as part of their hands-on learning program.
In line with its corporate social responsibility commitment, SIGMA Vienna Insurance Group warmly embraced this initiative, which promotes a love for nature, environmental education, and the discovery of Albania’s natural treasures. Through close collaboration with the school principal, Mr. Rasim Mehdi Toska, SIGMA VIG sponsored the students’ trip in June 2023, creating an unforgettable experience filled with learning, fun, and new discoveries. The visit to Karavasta Lagoon, one of Albania’s most significant biodiversity areas, became an inspiring experience that helped students understand more about ecosystems, environmental protection, and the harmony between humans and nature.
Education of the younger generations remains one of the core pillars of SIGMA VIG’s social engagement. The company’s continued support for “Jashar Kola” school students in Bulqiza—now a cherished tradition—fills us with pride and joy. In a world increasingly dominated by technology and virtual reality, it is truly inspiring to see young people choosing to connect with Albania’s history, culture, and natural beauty.
During their next excursion in June 2024, the students explored some of the country’s most remarkable heritage sites, including the Ardenica Monastery in Fier and the Butrint Amphitheater, one of Albania’s most renowned archaeological areas, located just 14 kilometers south of Saranda. This journey became a memorable adventure, blending education, exploration, and joy, offering the students lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for Albania. Through such initiatives, SIGMA Vienna Insurance Group reaffirms its commitment to investing in education, culture, and youth development, making learning not just a process — but an inspiring journey for every child.
